The Chief CMS492 is an above-suspended ceiling storage box designed to conceal AV equipment behind 2' x 2' (60.33 x 60.33 cm) ceiling tiles. This solution provides a professional, clean appearance for classrooms and conference rooms by hiding hardware from view. It is UL evaluated for use in Air-Handling Spaces as defined by Article 300.22, Sub-clause (C) of the NEC. The unit features an AV tray that supports a variety of AV components and includes built-in ventilation to manage heat. For electrical integration, the box features 4 nested knockouts for 1-1/4", 1", and 1/2" diameter conduit. While it comes with 1 shelf, a second shelf (CMSUNV2) must be purchased separately. For rack-mounted gear, 1 RU rack rail brackets (CMS1RU) are available as a separate accessory. The total weight capacity of the system is 100 lbs (45.4 kg), which includes a 50 lbs (22 kg) capacity for a projector ceiling plate and 25 lbs (11 kg) per shelf location.
